On Tuesday, June 27th,
Kansas City's AEC community "Raised the
Roof" at the McCownGordon building located
at 422 Admiral Blvd. The goal of this event was
to bring awareness to the AEC industry of
the state of education in Kansas City and to
mobilize our community to support the UMKC
Campus Facilities Management Team and their
efforts to provide scholarship opportunities to
Kansas City's youth. With that
end in mind, the event was a huge success.
Attendees
spent the first part of the evening socializing
while enjoying a delicious spread of food.
Later, a scavenger hunt was introduced that was
designed for participants to learn about
students at risk of not completing high school
or continuing their education beyond high
school. The
solutions to the scavenger hunt can be viewed by
clicking here.
Three
companies were acknowledged and presented
certificates of appreciation for their support
of the UMKC CFM scholarship efforts; they were:
Honeywell, Trane, and Burns & McDonnell.
Since the event, additional support has been
pledged by the York group made up of York
Service, Johnson Controls, JCI, McQueeny Group
and PC Service.
Finally,
attendees moved to the roof where the Loose
Change Band continued to "Raise the
Roof" with an outstanding performance that
was enjoyed by all. The Raising the Roof party
was a "warm-up" for the UMKC CFM
Scholarship Fund Benefit Dinner to be held this
fall. Details for the fall event will be made
available in this area of the sys-tek web site.
Thanks
to everyone who "Raised the Roof" with
us! We enjoyed seeing old friends and making new
ones. We will post photos here as soon as they
are made available to us.
