Movin' on UP!

sys-tek has been very fortunate to acquire many exciting and challenging new projects this year and that has kept our team very busy.  With growth comes opportunity, and this is exactly why we are excited to announce four promotions within the company...

Travis Short was made the new Vice President of Operations.  As newly appointed VP Travis is responsible for providing overall direction and guidance to the operational activities of sys-tek.  No doubt with his great sense of humor, people skills, and hard working nature he is sure to thrive in his new position.

At sys-tek we take the presentation of our engineering designs through our drawings very seriously.   Is it so much more that just lines on paper.  As our company continues to grlow this becomes even more important as new staff members are introduced into our system.  James Menez who has worked for Gary since 1985 and is currently Senior Designer with sys-tek will be taking on the new lead role for our new production systems insuring that our product is NEVER compromised.  James’ new role as Senior Designer and Production Manager is a huge task, given the challenges that we are confronted with on using the 3D graphic systems with intelligent drawings that contain real-time data about HVAC and electrical equipment.  James’ experience from board to CAD to now 3D will be invalubale as sys-tek moves forward.

Ryan French, now the assistant Project Manager to the President, Gary Short.  Gary hand-picked Ryan to be his right-hand man when it comes to designing these challenging new projects.  Ryan will put in the hours and effort to any project he is assigned to make sure that the quality of work that sys-tek provides is always second to none, and something that he is proud to stand behind.

Natalie Kolar was appointed as Executive Assistant.  She works with Gary and Travis very closely and not only does she perform the usual roles of managing correspondence, preparing research, and communication, but she is also in charge of the web page development and marketing.

Not only has sys-tek promoted individuals within the company but we have also hired several new people.    The gorwing demand for our services, not only with cleints we have had relationships with for years, but also new clients, made it possible for some geat new people to be a part of our team.

Mike Fitzpatrick was brought on board as a Mechanical Designer.  He is currently on site with Merck Animal Health in Desoto, KS.

Since joining sys-tek , Mitch Cook- Architect and Draftsman, has been responsible for the production of architectural drawing sets in coordination with sys-tek’s MEP drawings to provide information to the owner’s, contractor’s, and engineers. These drawing sets include, demolition, schematic design, design development, and construction documents.  In coordination with those drawings he is also responsible for generating design drawings for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems on various projects. The production, layout, and design drawings are generated in coordination with the information provided by sys-tek’s design team.

Juan Franklin, Electrical Designer and BIM Designer, has been responsible for electrical design of the electrical systems on many projects.  Mr. Franklin coordinates with other MEP Engineers to ensure that all MEP items are correct and up to date on all drawing sets.  These drawing sets include demolition, schematic design, design development, and construction.

Engineering is not our only area of expertise.  We also have a Commissioning side that continues to grow and thrive as well.  Tom Dye was hired as a Mechanical Designer/Commissioning Agent.  He is currently working on mechanical design and MEP systems commissioning.

Not only has sys-tek grown in the Kansas City area but we also have a growing presence in Houston, TX.  That being said, we have two new faces as part of our team in our office located in Houston as well.

Ken Shappley, LEED G A,  was  hired as our Director of Operations in Houston.  He oversees all projects out of the Houston office.  As our office continues to thrive in Texas, he will be a key player for 2012.

Natalie E. Lewis, LEED AP, is working as Project Manager for sys-tek , based in the Houston, TX office.  Currently, she is working on three at&t projects  in Houston, comprised of major emergency generator and paralleling switchgear enhancements, chiller and cooling tower system replacemements and the build-out of several mission critical floors.  As Project Manager , she manages and coordinates all aspects of the design, construction and turnover phases of work.

We are very pleased with  our success in 2011 and can not wait to see what is to come in the next year.  With these great people standing behind their work we know great things will happen and are excited to see everyone’s hard work continue to pay off.
