2011 NEC – Let the Fun Begin...
Article 110 Requirements for Electrical Installations
New: 110.24 Available Fault Current.
Sitting in code class the other week I couldn't believe my ears when they started talking about the new changes to the 2011 NEC. I applaud the new changes as they are geared towards safety. The descriptions and changes below are a step in the right direction.
In-House Capabilities: Quality Control
Quality Assurance is no longer the goal for a project to be successful; we consider it the price of admission. Quality Assurance at sys-tek is not a project phase, nor a job description, nor a department within. It is not something someone manages, but rather it is what everybody at sys-tek is continually doing. The key to negating mistakes and errors is having the best people in the industry. People who know design, construction and budget management control the project in a manner that promotes success, not failure. Mistakes and errors are avoided because our people have extensive experience and are able to address issues before they become problems.Design / Build - Are You Scared Yet?
The popularity of Design/Build to deliver projects is on the increase. The concept is far from new but the approach this time around has been more effective and organized. Contractors are moving forward and are promoting the concept and now with federal, state and local governments using Design/Build it appears that this delivery method will continue grow in popularity.Close Some Windows And Try Again
October 27, 2009
A couple hours ago I was trying to write a new e-mail, and I got an error message that said "Out of memory or system resources. Close some windows or programs and try again." I'm sure that Bill Gates & Microsoft was not intending any sort of philosophical message, but I received one anyway.
The Launch of Revit at sys-tek
August 29, 2009
A few months ago, I wrote a blog article regarding Building Information Modeling. I wasn't so sure at the time how soon sys-tek would consider jumping into the world of BIM, primarily because we have to see real demand for those services, and be very committed to making it work. Well recent conversations with architect friends at Hollis + Miller, Bell / Knott Associates, and Berger Devine Yaeger have convinced us that the time has come. Effective October 1, 2009, sys-tek is making the leap to Revit MEP 2010!
